2018 FALL MINIS GUIDE

Fall minis are one of my favorite parts of the year, and I’m so glad you’ll be joining us! If you haven’t been in front of the camera for a family photo shoot before, in my opinion this is easily the most fun you can have. Below are a few tips for choosing the right attire and for having an overall great experience. Be timeless, have fun, and most importantly, be yourselves!

Color, style, and fit! In my opinion, this is the trifecta for a perfect outfit. If you’re drawn to the styling in my images, you’ll notice that muted tones work best for portraits and won’t steal focus, but color is nothing to shy away from. As you can see in the pictures at the bottom of this page, a pop of coral or turquoise can be a statement that makes your pictures sing.

You should feel good. AKA, This is the perfect opportunity to buy that pair of shoes you’ve been trying to justify. If you feel good, it will show.

Clothes that fit well and flatter your figure. To put it simply, for the purposes of a photo shoot, I’d choose a top that fits well before one that only looks good when I’m stretching it a certain way in the mirror. Layers are always a good option to bring as well, such as a jacket for dad or a scarf for mom.

Arriving early! Needless to say, being on time is a big deal! If you can, arrive early to the meeting spot so you can check in and relax. Being on time allows us to have fun and make the most of our time together. Due to the nature of minis, we’ll need to stay on schedule.

Lastly, I absolutely love when clients send me pictures of their outfit ideas! I’m more than happy to make a suggestion, or tip the scales on the difficult decision of one top vs. another. The whole process is a great way to get to know each other, and to nail all the details ahead of time.
